203 Anna canteens are going to come up in the state by March end.
A GO has been passed by the state government in this regard for identifying suitable places to establish Anna Canteens in 71 municipalities and municipal corporations of 13 districts.
The government has proposed to set up 203 canteens and centralized kitchens, including 16 canteens.
The government will also launch Anna Canteen Foundation to run the canteens. The foundation will collect donations from philanthropists on the lines of Nityannadanam scheme of the TTD.
Under the plan, Kakinada will have five canteens and Rajahmundry four. The district will have two master kitchen centers and five kitchen-cum-canteens, the sources said.
Municipal commissioners have been asked to send proposals after inspecting sites. Canteens should be set up in 1,600 square yards of centrally located place and the kitchens and kitchen-canteens should be housed in 3,765 square yards each.
