TDP opposes simultaneous elections

Claiming that the idea of holding simultaneous polls to parliament and state assemblies is a game plan of national parties, TDP has today opposed the idea of simultaneous elections.

Yanamala Ramakrishnudu in a statement claimed that TDP was opposing simultaneous elections to safeguard the federal system.

He added that "The BJP has turned into a political shark. It's trying to live by preying on smaller fish". The move towards simultaneous polls would only decimate the regional parties so that the centre can hold its grip strongly on the states which have weakened, he added.

"... No national party is in a position to form the government at the Centre on its own and they have to necessarily rely on the support of regional parties. But the move to hold simultaneous elections is only to weaken the regional leaders," the TDP veteran said.
FM also added that the country’s people are watching the way of BJPs treatment towards AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi, Nitish Kumar in Bihar and the TDP.
Though TDP has backed PMs Idea of simultaneous elections earlier, given the circumstances and the snapped ties between TDP and BJP it s now opposing the move to prevent the state like becoming another TamilNadu.
