Electric Rickshaws to transport solid waste

The CRDA officials have planned to use electric rickshaws to transport solid waste as part of making Amaravati as a smart city.

Regular vehicles will be replaced by the electric ones which have zero pollution to collect solid waste from various places and dump the waste at landfills. 

At present 4 electric vehicles costing 22 lakh, each has been deployed in certain areas on a pilot basis and have received the accolade from people. So CRDA has planned to buy another 15 vehicles to be utilized in all the 29 villages of the state capital. 

Each vehicle has a capacity of carrying one tone of waste and runs on a motor power of 1000 watts and a battery capacity of 120AH and a voltage of 48v. They run at a speed of 20kmph. 

The vehicles are to be charged for six to seven hours a day and runs for a total distance of 70km on a single charge. 

There is no waste-to-energy generation scope in Amaravati and once the units set up these vehicles waste will be taken to a centralized landfill and dumped there.
