CM Dharma Porata Deeksha

The 68 year-old Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has started a day long fast protest on Friday in Amravati.

The protest is in regard to centre’s indifferent attitude towards the state. Naidu launched the 'Dharma Porata Deeksha' hunger strike at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada. The fast, which began at 7 a.m., will conclude at 7 p.m.

Many TD party leaders have joined the fast along with CM today. State ministers Kala Venkat Rao, D. Umamaheswara Rao, Nara Lokesh, Kollu Ravindra, MPs and state legislators and leaders participated in the massive programme.

Chief Minister before reaching the stadium has garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, Jyotirao Phule and N.T. Rama Rao. Before beginning his fast CM was blessed by Hindu, Muslim and Christian religious leaders.

Chief Minister had earlier sought people’s cooperation for his ‘Dharma Porata deeksha’ against the injustice meted by the centre to AP in the implementation of the Reorganisation Act and in fulfilling the assurances given at the time of bifurcation.
