CM attended Panchayat Raj Day celebrations

National Panchayat Day celebrations were organized at Dwarapudi village of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh by AP Panchayat Raj and Village development authorities.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was invited as chief guest for the celebrations.

Speaking at the event CM said that the Panchayat Raaj symbolizes a defining moment in the history of decentralizing political power to the grassroots level.

Village panchayats are vital units of self-government and their contribution to transforming rural India is huge.

At the event, CM inaugurated books on the developments made in the Gram Panchayat and Village development plan and the integrated process the government is following for the development of social standards of the people and the achievements the state government has achieved were incorporated in the books. 

CM has decided to increase the Panchayats in the state and asked the authorities to establish 9000 panchayats in AP.

An integrated approach has been taken up for the development of the villages under the Panchayat Raj system. 

24th April is celebrated ass National Panchayat Raj Diwas marking the passing of the Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24 April 1993.
