Andhra Pradesh: Statewide bandh over special status

The statewide bandh which was called by Pratyeka Hoda Saadhana Samiti as a protest for granting special status category has received support from all fronts on Monday.

No troublesome incidents were reported and people have voluntarily participated in the bandh. All opposition parties have supported the strike.  
Chief Minister who was reviewing the strike has asked the police officials to ensure that peace exists in the state and asked to ramp up security in the state.

AP Pratyeka Hoda Saadhana Samiti president Chalasani Srinivas, CPI and CPI (M) state secretaries K Ramakrishna and P Madhu organized a 'dharna' at the PN bus station. 

MP Vijaysai Reddy led the protest in Visakhapatnam.
Examinations were rescheduled and all the educational institutions remained closed for the day.

State Road Transport Corporation buses remained confined to the depots as protesters staged sit-ins and 'road roko' at various places. 
AP Film Chamber cancels the screening of morning shows of the movies across the state to support state bandh.

Shops and establishments in the city are closed as trade unions including Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Trade Unions Council (AITUC), YSR TUC and others are voluntarily participating in the bandh

YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy announced a day's break to his ongoing 'Padayatra' to monitor the bandh from his camp in Krishna district.
