TDP protests at Parliament

The Telugu Desam Party MPs staged a protest again on Tuesday at Parliament.

The TD MPs staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi Statue in the Parliament premises demanding SCS for Andhra Pradesh. They staged a protest on Monday as well and continued it today.

Though the Finance Minister has assured to give a special package on Monday, the protests seem to continue. The MPs are seen holding placards showing, We demand special status for Andhra Pradesh state", " keep your promises ".

The MPs are demanding to fulfil all the promises made by the central government during the bifurcation of the state. The decision to grant SCS was announced in the Parliament and endorsed by opposition parties, including BJP in 2014.

SCS was announced in lieu of foregoing Hyderabad, which houses employment generating industries, and such a precious clause should not be foregone for some insignificant package.

Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister assured to give a special package for the state and four of the demands among the 19 demands of TDP.

Apart from the commitment of special package, assurances were given for the formation of a railway zone, the establishment of a greenfield crude oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Kakinada and a steel plant in Kadapa district.
