TDP MPs resign for BJP cabinet

TDP MPs in the BJP cabinet have submitted their resignations on Thursday evening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ashok Gajapathi Raju and YS Chowdary have given out their resignations after a meeting with PM at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, in New Delhi.

The resignations were given in the wake of Centre out-rightly rejecting the SCS demand. TDP has decided to pull out their MPs from the NDA government on Wednesday late night.

Speaking to the media after submitting the resignations Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that though they have resigned from NDA, the TD party will continue to be part of the ruling alliance.

YS Chowdary said that the issue of the SCS is very emotional to the people of Andhra Pradesh. He also added that the center has done what it can to the state and it is unfair to blame the center wholly.

Chowdary also said that “I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.”
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu speaking about the resignations said TDP has taken “painful decision in the interest of the state” as it was left with “no other option”.

He said that, if the purpose of the alliance is not fulfilled there is no point in continuing it further. For me the sole agenda is to safeguard the interests of the state,” said Naidu.

The sudden change in the attitude of the TD party leaders is drawing a lot of criticism.
