Andhra Pradesh to introduce 1 lakh electric vehicles

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in a meeting on electric vehicles and charging infrastructure announced that 2018 would be the year of electric vehicles.

To make Andhra Pradesh pollution free he set up a vision for the state to go for electric vehicles on a large scale in the next two years.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Energy Efficiency Services Limited and New&Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh and representatives of Micromax, PWC, Deloitte, Mahindra, Kinetic Green and others held at the Secretariat.

CM said that Andhra pradesh should become model for others and we must try as well innovate to find cost-effective solutions in the energy sector.  

He also added that as we are a power-surplus State, we want to go for higher consumption as well as output. CM further said that our state should attain self-sufficiency in renewable energy after reaching our target of 18000MW energy by 2022.

Chief minister has assured all the possible help from the state government for making the vision possible.

As part of a pilot project, 300 electric vehicles will be rolled out in the state soon.
